Day 44

Never gets old

Audrey
Wowsers. Today started out with Jason and I hunting down the Arugula. Side note: I had arugula for lunch and you know what arugula, I'd rather eat grass. But that's another story, back to this one, Jason went to pick up beets and lettuce which we're "borrowing" from Crystal Organic Farms for our CSA. I moved on to harvest peas before Cory told me to help Erica who was swimming he said with strawberries. Another side note: I spent three hours on strawberries yesterday, I was trying to forget so I didn't mention it in the blog, no more side note's, I promise, so annoying. I had to take the non-automatic truck BY MYSELF and reverse and other scary shifting gear things. But I put on my big girl pants and made it happen.

Erica was almost done with strawberries by the time I made it there in the truck. So we went to tackle the peas! Audrey, Cory's daughter helped me pea pick while we talked about current events like the color of butterflies, her bellybutton and our future swim dates. After lot's of pea harvesting we broke for lunch then got everything together for Erica to make the run! Run it!

Road trip anyone?
Tuesdays we go to Square Perk and LA Fitness but today was special because Cory wanted to find out the bugs in the strawberry field; he thinks they're false chinches. Erica took them (the bugs, she had to take bugs with her) by the County Extension Office and drop them off. That's right, who knew our tax dollars were going towards a bug drop off? Apparently, they have one in every state connected to Ag programs in almost every county giving specialized information on farms, bugs, etc. in your area. Anyone can use them because they're paid for by...us. We should hear back tomorrow about this rascal.

Cory had an interview with the Dean from Oxford (satellite Emory campus) about being in charge of an organic farm program there. He interviewed me too but I don't think I'm getting a raise, even though I'm totally worth it. A medical sociologist was with him, for whatever reason, and we started talking about dangers in food and corporate corruption you know, my casual chat topics. He told me they put a chemical in paper receipts from gas stations that causes diabetes. That was surprising, and I'm hardly surprised anymore. Anywho, they are going through the steps to make this farm on campus happen so we'll wait and see! Side note: just kidding, I'm done.
Get it Oxford! No really, get a farm!
