Ex-City Girl experiencing farm life and introducing people to an organic slow food way of life. Oh, and it's humorous (the blog, not organic food, never joke about food).

Day 42
Market Day! And boy, did we have the folks! They were lining up to get some of what we were selling. There's a bell that signifies when we can start selling, so those housewives looked like warriors ready for battle. My math skills aren't impressive when there's more than three items, so I had my not-so-great phone calculator and a charming hold-your-horseys smile to rely on. As usual, asparagus and strawberries went first and there was lots of buzz about the garlic flowers.
The pea shelling bike was quite the spectacle and the kids loved it. Cory was getting them to shell the peas for the adults, and I think child labor would end childhood obesity, you're welcome society. We sold out of pretty much everything except rainbow chard didn't get much love. We sold a lot of arugula to Empire State South because we had tons, and shops were fighting over our mushy organic strawberry seconds.
My friend Emily came to see me again and sat on the bike show'd em how it's done like a champ!
